I smoked on and off for 26 years, and was able to succeed in quitting for short periods of time, but would always fall back into it. I even tried CHANTIX®, which gave me horrible dreams, but did quell the cravings for a number of weeks. I had heard from two different friends that their parents, who had been heavy smokers, were able to succeed in quitting through hypnosis. My concern was that my main trigger for smoking was drinking. When I had a couple of beers, the craving for a cigarette became so overwhelming that I would fall back into the habit.
When I went to Dr. Anderson, I asked that he account for my drinking being a trigger for my smoking during the session. He worked it into the therapy. The actual experience of being under hypnosis was incredibly relaxing and the time flew by. The hour and a half session seemed to have lasted only 20 minutes, yet I was alert and aware of my surroundings the entire time.
The real difference came when listening to my therapy recording every night for a month at bedtime. The night after my session, I smoked the last cigarette in the last pack I have ever bought. A few day later, I was out at a bar, had a few drinks and wound up smoking 6 cigarettes that a bartender friend let me have. The morning after that, I woke up feeling disgusted with myself and with the acrid taste in my mouth. I have not touched another cigarette since then, and at the end of the 30 days of listening to the session, I have not had a craving for one, regardless of how much I have had to drink.
I have been smoke-free for over a year now, and I can say with absolute certainty that I am an ex-smoker and will never smoke another cigarette for as long as I live. I feel like I’ve been given a second lease on life.
Thanks, Dr. Wesley Anderson, for helping me to conquer my stupid, filthy, expensive habit, an addiction I would never have been able to conquer without the help of hypnosis.
