There’s some new research that reveals a big threat to the physical and mental health to those inhaling secondhand tobacco smoke. And knowing this can be a big motivation for a smoker to kick the habit.
Families of smokers have been found to have an increased risk of stroke, heart attack, and overall mental health problems simply because they’re around the secondhand smoke.
Long-term risks include sleep problems, self recognition, decision-making, self-confidence, higher stress levels, depression, lower levels of happiness and self worth. These effects include people who have never smoked, who have been breathing in secondhand smoke as well as the smokers themselves.
Many smokers are motivated to stop smoking for their own health benefits, and though frequently mentioned their concerns for their families as well. Many of my clients come to me for hypnosis stop smoking programs tell me that their small children have been asking them to quit. The children, having heard about the health dangers of smoking, or wanting to take care of their parents.
With the new information coming out about the health dangers to family members, particularly children, many smokers will be more motivated than ever, because as parents they want to protect their children from unnecessary health hazards.
As in Atlanta hypnotherapist I have long been aware that the biggest indicator of success for a stop smoking program is the determination and motivation of the client. The more smokers are aware of the potential health problems are smoking could be causing loved ones more they will be motivated to put down the cigarettes for good.
