It has been just over four months since my single session with you to eliminate my 30+ year smoking habit and I wanted to fill you in on the success we have achieved. I also CC’d Sean Wheeler on this email – as he was my first contact on this journey and led me to your office.
At this point, I can say I have not had a cigarette since the morning of our session on September 5th and I really have not wanted to smoke. I will admit, the first 2 weeks after our session I was very hyper and as some have described, almost spastic. However, smoking a cigarette was an idea that I could put off to the side and just not consider.
I may be going out on a limb here – but I really do not feel the hypnosis was a major factor in this success. I think I even dozed off during the formal hypnosis part. However, it was our very calming and relaxing interview/discussion that took place during the first part of our session. After reading a bit about neuro-linquistic programming, I believe that is what was taking place during this discussion and that you were setting new anchors in place to get me through day to day life without needing or wanting a cigarette. I have a very strongly implanted visual of putting smoking off to the side with the movement of my right hand off to the side of my body – and that was key to my success in the first few days. That physical movement and very strong visual cue wiped away any thoughts of wanting to smoke when the idea came into my head. I have had friends ask when we have been out enjoying drinks with friends if that was a difficult time for me. My response is one that you planted for me – just because my inhibitions are down somewhat doesn’t mean that I am going to take off my clothes and run around naked – so why would I want to smoke?? I have had people ask if I could just smoke one cigarette with them. And my response once again was one that you gave me – “one cigarette will not work for me”. No – I do not want one.
I think I listened to the recording of our hypnotherapy session once – it really did not do much for me. But revisiting the details of our discussion which became almost hypnotic for me has kept me calm and on track to achieve success – and for that I cannot thank you enough.
I spent the months following our session training as much as possible on my water skiing which has gotten so much better since I am smoke free. I hope to be entering some tournaments in the upcoming ski season. In the meantime, I am now distance swimming on a very regular basis and am taking up running as well. I have even signed up for a 5K race at Walt Disney World in May. Yes – I have had a complete life change, thanks to you and thanks to Sean for his referral.
Thank you and have a great day,
